Clayboard & Foundation Preparation
Every site is different, and on this project at Wincanton the structural engineer specified the use of compressible claybpoard due to the shrinkable clay ground conditions, Before the concrete was poured, a black polythene membrane was installed along the trench sides to help keep the excavation clean and reduce loose clay falling into the fresh concrete.
Once the foundation had been fully prepared, a 20metre boom pump was used to place the concrete accurately into the trenches. This allowed the concrete pour to be poured continuously and efficiently, ensuring the foundations were filled with minimal disturbance to the prepared excavation.
Although much of this work is hidden once construction progresses, careful preparation and precise concrete placement are essential to creating strong durable foundations that will support the building for years to come.
